OAO Trading House GUM and the Interior Ministry Moscow Board of Trustees present an unusual exhibition of photographs to coincide with Militia Day:’Moscow Militia in Photo Objective’. In our view the photographs on display are particularly interesting since they were taken by Moscow Interior Ministry officials. The striking variety in the subjects and characters recorded by the lens of amateur cameras allows us to show the actual, everyday life of our capital’s law-enforcement agencies.

A thorough understanding of the theme portrayed by the photographers conveys a sense of veracity and realism. These recognisable artistic images by our contemporaries will evoke a broad range of diverse feelings and emotions in visitors to the exhibition.

To prepare for the exhibition a photo competition was announced with active participation by all departments and divisions of the Moscow Militia garrison. More than 7000 studies were entered in the contest. A commission comprising Interior Ministry senior officials and members of the Board of Trustees selected the best photographs, which are now displayed here in the GUM 1st line.
