The Artist Foundation, Multimedia Art Museum Moscow, Happy Families International Center, The Rodchenko Moscow School of Photography and Multimedia, International Center of Photography New York present photo exhibition «Life in Motion».
The exhibition brings together images from the work of photographers from The Rodchenko Moscow School of Photography and Multimedia and International Center of Photography New York.
This project was created to attract attention of people to the problems of disabled children.
Our life is motion, but this motion means something different to everyone. To some, it is a spiritual or professional development, to others it means traveling; but to some people — motion is a dream of simply being able to walk freely. Ten photographers from The Rodchenko Moscow School of Photography and Multimedia and International Center of Photography New York led by renowned photographer Ed Kashi traveled to different orphanages and rehabilitation centers in Russia, where they observed and interacted with the children. The photographs, which depict these children in their daily lives, show the range of capabilities that these children have learned.
The second part of the project is «A Day in the City» united in motion children with a number of entirely different professionals, including famous actors, sportsmen, journalists. Being on the streets of a big city they tried to overcome the difficulties together.
The project «Life in Motion» was held as a part of «I Want to Walk» program, which is dedicated to helping orphaned children obtain their dream to walk.
«Life in Motion gives these children a chance to express who they are and to show what they can do in spite of their disabilities. It is a step forward for them to connect with the world outside the walls of the orphanage. They are different, but aren’t we all?» said Co-Founder of The Artist Foundation and Producer of the Life in Motion project.
The Artist Charitable Foundation for Support of People of Art was founded in 2008 by the People’s Artist Evgeniy Mironov, Honoured Artist of the RF Mariya Mironova and a doctor, producer Natalya Shaginian-Needham.
«There are two gigantic groups of orphans: orphaned children and orphaned elderly people. The first group are abandoned in their childhood, the second one are abandoned in their senility. They are the very people who live a difficult life and who need a special support. Our mission is to attract public attention to their problems and awake the desire to help them for we are all able to do it», — says Natalya Shaginian-Needham, the founder of The Artist Foundation.
The Foundation activity includes two branches: «Actors — to Actors» and «Actors — to Children». The objective of the first is helping the stage and cinema veterans who have a difficult life situation. There are two programs for the veterans. One is «SOS-help Bank» — providing the veterans with the necessary medication, technical means of rehabilitation, treatment, post-surgical rehabilitation, patronage and housework help. The other branch «Social life» — congratulating the veterans on their birthday and holidays, the organization of social events in which the veterans take part, such as going to orphanages and hospitals with plays.
The other branch is presented with the program «I Want to Walk» dedicated to helping orphaned children born without limbs and children with musculoskeletal disorders obtain the ability to walk and a chance for a full life.
