The exhibitions shown as part of the Eight Moscow International Biennale «Fashion and Style in Photography» are united by the theme «Beauty: Myths and Inspirations». The Biennale traditionally highlights the style of a specific time. This year its thematic focus is to examine the process by which our concepts of beauty are formed and naturally altered in the course of time. The 45 projects presented in the main programme of the Biennale (24 foreign and 21 Russian) allow us to trace these changes over a period of more than a hundred years, from the late 19th century to the present day. They combine to show a variety of aesthetic systems and aesthetic tendencies that radically influenced a transformation in our perception of beauty, and to explore factors in the formation of visial myths.
